Which one is best on the sand?
All four will do this beach, aired down and in four-wheel drive, with a locking rear axle and all-terrain tires from the factory. The Trail Boss carries the most lift and the biggest tires; the Rebel and the Tundra carry coil springs at the back. The difference is how each one feels doing it, and that is what the drive experience is for.
Can we drive more than one the same day?
Yes. Book two, bring a second driver who is 25 or older, and swap at the Virginia line so you each drive both. $325 a vehicle, five and a half hours each. Want three or four? Call us; it takes a second day or a second pair of drivers.
Do you take sides?
No. Nobody rides along and nobody steers you toward one. The reviews and the video we link are theirs, not ours. If none of them is right, you found out on the sand, not after you bought one.
Which one costs less?
Edmunds lists 2026 starting prices of $67,710 for the F-150 Tremor and $68,040 for the Ram 1500 Rebel, four-door 4x4s, and $74,760 for the Tundra TRD Pro, which comes only as a hybrid. Chevrolet has not published 2027 Trail Boss pricing; the 2026 LT Trail Boss started in the high $50,000s. All of them climb with option groups; ask the dealer for today’s number.
Which ones have a V8?
Three of the four, for 2026. The Tremor offers Ford’s 5.0-liter alongside the standard EcoBoost V6. The Rebel brings the 5.7-liter Hemi back as an option for 2026. The 2027 Silverado arrives with two new V8s, a 5.7 and a 6.6, and Chevrolet says the 6.6 is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in a pickup. The Tundra TRD Pro is a twin-turbo V6 hybrid, 437 horsepower, no V8 offered.
Which rides smoothest on the road?
The two with coil springs at the back: the Rebel, which has had them since 2009, and the Tundra, which switched to them for 2022. The Tremor and the Trail Boss use leaf springs, which is the traditional truck setup and the one reviewers call firmer over patched pavement. Highway 12 will show you the difference in the first few miles.
What is new about the 2027 Trail Boss?
The whole truck. Chevrolet showed the all-new 2027 Silverado 1500 in June 2026 with a two-inch factory lift and 34-inch tires on the Trail Boss, new 5.7- and 6.6-liter V8s, a 16.3-inch center screen, and a column shifter. It goes on sale at the end of 2026 and joins the lineup when it does.
Which one tows and hauls the most?
The Tremor, on paper, at up to about 12,800 pounds; the Tundra is rated up to 12,000 pounds across the line, the Rebel up to about 11,300. Chevrolet has not published 2027 Trail Boss ratings. None of it matters on the beach, and all four will pull a boat.
Which one is more reliable?
Toyota people will tell you, and the resale-value data mostly backs them up. Owners of the other three argue it every way. Check Consumer Reports’ predicted reliability, and look up open recalls by VIN at NHTSA before you buy any of them.
One of us is a Ford person and one is a Chevy person. Now what?
Book both for the same day. Each of you drives each one, you swap at the Virginia line, and whoever loses the argument buys dinner.
